Infant Jesus School , Raichur, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on 15 August 2026.

The programme commenced at 7:30 a.m. with a warm welcome to the gathering, followed by the floral honouring of the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Rev. Fr. Sam Nalan, Manager of Infant Jesus Group of Institutions, hoisted the National Flag amid an atmosphere of pride and reverence. The gathering then joined together in singing the National Anthem.

A disciplined and impressive march-past was presented by the contingents representing the four Houses of IJS and BYS. Fr. Sam Nalan received the salute and honour from the marching students.

The students presented a colourful variety of cultural programmes that beautifully expressed their love for the nation, respect for its heritage and commitment to national unity. Their performances filled the celebration with joy, energy and patriotic spirit.

Addressing the gathering, Fr. Sam Nalan recalled with gratitude the heroic sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters, whose courage and selfless service secured the freedom enjoyed by the nation today. He exhorted the students to imbibe true patriotism and to express it through unity, discipline, honesty, responsible citizenship and service to society. He encouraged them to use their education and talents to contribute towards building a strong, peaceful, progressive and united India.

The celebration inspired everyone present to cherish the gift of freedom and renew their commitment to the unity, prosperity and well-being of the nation.
