World Environment Day Celebration

World Environment Day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School (IJS) with great enthusiasm and a meaningful message of love and care for Mother Earth. The celebration aimed at creating awareness among students about the importance of protecting and preserving the environment for future generations. The programme began with a warm welcome by Teacher Sushma Joyce, who welcomed the dignitaries, staff, and students. Mrs. Saraswathi addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of caring for nature, conserving natural resources, and developing eco-friendly habits in our daily lives. The students actively participated in the celebration by presenting inspiring speeches in English and Kannada, emphasizing everyone’s responsibility towards safeguarding the environment. The teachers added beauty to the occasion by presenting a meaningful song dedicated to the care and protection of nature. As a practical expression of their commitment towards a greener planet, the students contributed around 100 saplings. Some of these saplings were planted on the school campus by the dignitaries, Headmistresses, teachers, and student leaders, symbolizing hope, growth, and responsibility towards the environment. Fr. Sam Nalan delivered the keynote address on the occasion. In his message, he encouraged the students to become responsible caretakers of creation by adopting simple but powerful habits such as planting trees, avoiding wastage, keeping the surroundings clean, and respecting all forms of life. He also made the students to take a pledge on the care of the environment. The celebration concluded with a note of appreciation and gratitude to the Drawing Teachers, Mrs. Sunita and Mrs. Yashoda, who coordinated the programme successfully and made the celebration a memorable and meaningful one. The event inspired everyone to remember that protecting the environment is not just a one-day activity but a lifelong commitment towards building a cleaner, greener, and healthier world.
